Evanston is a vibrant residential neighbourhood situated in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. Positioned near the northern edge of the city, Evanston offers a blend of community spirit and accessible amenities.
Location
The neighbourhood is bounded by several communities and major roads:
- South and Southeast: Panorama Hills and Hidden Valley communities, separated by Stoney Trail
- East: 14 Street N.W.
- North: 144 Avenue N.W.
- West: Sarcee Trail and the Sage Hill community
- Southwest: Kincora community, across Shaganappi Trail
Evanston is part of the Symons Valley area, comprising five different communities.
Geography and Demographics
At an elevation of 1,110 m (3,640 ft), Evanston covers a land area of 4.9 km² (1.9 sq mi). According to the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, the neighbourhood had a population of 6,594 residents living in 2,576 dwellings. This marked a substantial 12% increase from the 2011 population of 5,889. The population density stands at 1,346/km² (3,490/sq mi).
