The community’s roots can be traced back to Glengarry County, Ontario, from which the first settlers hailed. The initial subdivision plan was registered in 1906, with formal annexation by the City of Calgary occurring in 1910.
Development in Killarney progressed gradually, with a significant uptick in the post-World War II era. This period saw the introduction of numerous one-story clapboard and stucco bungalows. Since around 2002, the area has experienced a wave of rejuvenation, with older structures giving way to contemporary low- and medium-density infill housing.
