Location

Mayland Heights occupies a total area of 2.0 km² (0.8 sq mi) and is geographically positioned at coordinates 51°03′41″N 114°00′48″W. The community is conveniently bordered by major transportation routes, including Barlow Trail to the east, Memorial Drive to the south, Deerfoot Trail to the west, and Trans-Canada Highway to the north. This strategic location provides residents with easy access to various parts of the city.

Adjacent to Mayland Heights are the neighbourhoods of Radisson Heights to the south and Franklin/Marlborough to the east, creating a larger community network.

History

The land that now constitutes Mayland Heights was annexed to the City of Calgary in 1910. Initially known as Crossroads, the community underwent a transformation, eventually establishing itself as Mayland Heights in 1962.

Population

According to the City of Calgary’s 2014 municipal census, Mayland Heights is home to 6,357 residents living in 2,723 dwellings, marking a 9% population increase since 2011. The community exhibits a population density of 3,200/km² (8,200/sq mi).
