Location

Situated at 51°03′48″N 114°03′45″W, Crescent Heights spans across both the NE and NW quadrants of Calgary. It is bordered by the Trans-Canada Highway to the north, Edmonton Trail to the east, 4th Street NW to the west, and Memorial Drive along with the Bow River to the south.The neighborhood stands at an elevation of 1,080 m (3,540 ft), offering stunning views and a refreshing environment.

Area and Population

Covering an area of 1.63 km² (0.63 sq mi), Crescent Heights had a population of 6,082 according to the 2006 census. The neighborhood had a population density of 3,731.3/km² (9,664/sq mi) and an average income of $43,123.

History and Development

Founded in 1895 by Archibald J. McArthur, Crescent Heights transitioned from a village to a Calgary neighborhood, with its incorporation as a village on May 1, 1908, and its subsequent annexation by the City of Calgary in 1911. It has been a recognized neighborhood since 1914.

The Green Line CTrain rapid-transit system is set to connect Crescent Heights to the wider city, with the 9 Avenue N Station anticipated to be operational by 2027, further enhancing the neighborhood’s accessibility.

Education

Crescent Heights High public school serves this community, along with others. The school has historically and presently accommodates students from various parts of northeast Calgary due to a shortage of high schools in those areas.
