Brentwood is a vibrant neighborhood situated in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Established in 1960, this community has grown and developed, providing residents with a variety of amenities, services, and educational opportunities.

Location and Geography

Brentwood is bounded by John Laurie Boulevard to the north, Crowchild Trail to the south, Shaganappi Trail to the west, and Brisbois Drive & Charleswood Drive on the east. The community is located at an elevation of 1,115 meters (3,658 feet), and while it is close to Nose Hill Park, the park itself is not part of Brentwood.

Population and Demographics

In the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Brentwood had a population of 6,059 living in 2,595 dwellings, marking a 0.2% increase from its 2011 population of 6,049. The community covers a land area of 2.9 km^2 (1.1 sq mi), resulting in a population density of 2,090/km^2 (5,410/sq mi).

In 2000, the median household income in Brentwood was $56,305, with 14.3% of residents living below the low-income threshold. The community had a significant immigrant population, accounting for 22.7% of residents. Additionally, 15.7% of the buildings were condominiums or apartments, and 27.3% of the housing was used for renting.
