With coordinates at 51°01′50″N 114°11′37″W, Springbank Hill’s boundaries are defined by 17 Avenue SW to the north, Stoney Trail to the south, 69 Street SW to the east, and 101 Street SW to the west. The suburb is positioned at an elevation of 1,130 meters (3,710 feet), offering picturesque views and a serene living environment.

Historical Background

The area of Springbank Hill was once part of the older, unincorporated rural community of Springbank, situated in Rocky View County to the west of Calgary. In 1994, the land was annexed to the City of Calgary, leading to the establishment of Springbank Hill in 1999. The community association was subsequently formed in 2001.

Subdivisions and Amenities

Springbank Hill encompasses various subdivisions, including Springborough, Summit of Montreux, Springbank Hill, The Slopes, Anatapi, and Spring Valley, each offering unique residential experiences. The community is home to Ernest Manning High School and Ambrose University College, contributing to its educational offerings. The 69 Street station of the West LRT, operational since December 10, 2012, provides convenient public transportation options.

According to the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Springbank Hill housed a population of 8,783 across 3,166 dwellings, marking a 4.7% increase from the previous year. Spread over a land area of 6.3 km2 (2.4 sq mi), the suburb’s population density stood at 1,394/km2 (3,611/sq mi).
