Rocky Ridge is a residential neighbourhood located in the northwest quadrant of Calgary, Alberta. Established in 1998, following its annexation from the Municipal District of Rocky View in 1989, the community has flourished into a sought-after area for families and individuals alike.
Location and Geography
Rocky Ridge enjoys a prime location at the western edge of Calgary, offering breathtaking views and a serene environment. Bounded by Country Hills Boulevard to the north, Rocky Ridge Road to the east, Crowchild Trail to the south, and Twelve Mile Coulee Road to the west, the community is easily accessible and well-connected. The neighbourhood is positioned at an impressive elevation of 1,265 meters (4,150 ft), reaching up to 1,275 meters (4,183 ft) at certain points, providing residents with stunning vistas of the surrounding landscape.
Demographics
According to the City of Calgary’s 2012 municipal census, Rocky Ridge had a population of 7,662, living in 2,972 dwellings. This marked a 5.5% increase from its 2011 population of 7,266. The community spans a land area of 2.8 km² (1.1 sq mi), resulting in a population density of 2,740/km² (7,090/sq mi).
