West Vancouver is a municipality in British Columbia located along the north shore of Burrard Inlet across from the city of Vancouver. It forms part of the Metro Vancouver region and is known for its scenic coastal setting between the Pacific Ocean and the Coast Mountains.
The municipality developed during the twentieth century as an affluent residential community offering dramatic ocean views and easy access to nature. Homes are often built along hillside neighbourhoods overlooking the inlet, while forested areas and parks remain an important part of the landscape.
West Vancouver is also the gateway to the Sea-to-Sky corridor leading toward Whistler and the mountains of British Columbia. Today the community is recognized for its high quality of life, coastal scenery and proximity to outdoor recreation.
