Location and Geography

Situated between major roadways, Riverbend is bounded by Glenmore Trail to the north, 24 Street E to the east, and Deerfoot Trail to the west. The neighbourhood is developed in the Bow River floodplain, its escarpment, and the upland plain, creating a diverse and picturesque environment. Coordinates for Riverbend are 50°58′22″N 114°00′56″W, with a total area of 3.0 km² (1.2 sq mi) and an elevation of 1,020 m (3,350 ft).

In the City of Calgary’s 2013 municipal census, Riverbend recorded a population of 9,682 residing in 3,450 dwellings, showing stability in its population numbers compared to the previous year. The population density was measured at 2,361/km² (6,120/sq mi). Residents enjoy a comfortable standard of living, with a median household income of $78,574 reported in 2000, and a low percentage (6.1%) of low income residents. A diverse community, 17.3% of the residents were immigrants as of 2000.
