A Glimpse Into the Past
Foothills County’s origins date back to January 1, 1954, when it was established as the Municipal District (MD) of Sheep River No. 31. This formation was the result of amalgamating sections of Improvement District No. 46 and three other municipal districts. Shortly after, on March 25, 1954, it underwent a name change to MD of Foothills No. 31, a title it held until adopting its current name, Foothills County, on January 1, 2019.
