Laval is a large city in Quebec located on Île Jésus just north of Montréal. The city forms an integral part of the Greater Montréal metropolitan region and is connected to the island of Montréal through several bridges and metro lines. Laval was created through the amalgamation of multiple municipalities in the 1960s, forming a single large urban centre across the entire island.

Over the past several decades Laval has experienced significant residential and commercial growth. Modern neighbourhoods, business districts and transportation infrastructure have expanded throughout the city. Major shopping centres, office complexes and research facilities contribute to the local economy.

Laval is also home to Université de Montréal’s Laval campus and numerous cultural institutions. Today the city functions as one of Quebec’s largest municipalities and plays an important role within the Montréal metropolitan area.
