Mount Pearl is a city in Newfoundland and Labrador located immediately southwest of St. John’s on the Avalon Peninsula. It forms part of the St. John’s metropolitan area and has developed primarily as a residential community with strong connections to the provincial capital.
The city grew significantly during the second half of the twentieth century as suburban expansion reached areas surrounding St. John’s. Residential neighbourhoods, local businesses, schools and community facilities were developed to support a growing population.
Today Mount Pearl offers a well-organized suburban environment with parks, recreational spaces and convenient access to the services and employment opportunities of nearby St. John’s.
