Quesnel is a city located in the Cariboo region of central British Columbia along the Fraser River. The community developed during the Cariboo Gold Rush of the nineteenth century when prospectors and traders travelled north through the region toward goldfields further inland.

Following the gold rush era, Quesnel evolved into a regional centre for forestry, agriculture and transportation. The surrounding forests provided timber resources that supported logging and wood processing industries for many decades.

Today Quesnel serves as a service hub for the surrounding rural region. Its historic downtown and riverside setting reflect its early origins while nearby lakes, forests and mountains provide opportunities for outdoor recreation.
