Steinbach is a city in southeastern Manitoba located approximately sixty kilometres southeast of Winnipeg. The city developed as a Mennonite settlement in the nineteenth century and retains strong cultural traditions connected to that heritage.
Agriculture has historically played an important role in the development of Steinbach and continues to influence the regional economy. In recent decades the city has also experienced growth in manufacturing, retail and transportation industries.
Today Steinbach is one of the fastest-growing cities in Manitoba and functions as a commercial centre for communities across southeastern Manitoba.
