Wetaskiwin is a city in central Alberta located south of Edmonton. The community developed historically as an agricultural and railway centre supporting farming communities across the region.

The name Wetaskiwin originates from a Cree phrase meaning “the hills where peace was made,” reflecting the area’s Indigenous history and cultural heritage. Over time the city expanded with residential neighbourhoods, commercial districts and local industries.

Today Wetaskiwin continues to serve as a regional centre for agriculture, manufacturing and community services in central Alberta.
