Regina is the capital city of Saskatchewan and serves as the political and administrative centre of the province. Located in the southern prairie region, the city was originally established as a territorial capital during the late nineteenth century.
The city grew as a government and service centre supporting agricultural communities across the surrounding prairie region. Wascana Centre, one of the largest urban parks in North America, forms a central feature of the city and includes government buildings, cultural institutions and recreational areas.
Today Regina continues to function as the provincial capital while also supporting education, business and cultural activities within Saskatchewan.
