Sarnia is a city in southwestern Ontario located along the St. Clair River at the southern end of Lake Huron. The river forms the international boundary between Canada and the United States, linking Sarnia with the American city of Port Huron in Michigan.
The city is widely known for its petrochemical and energy industries located in an area often referred to as “Chemical Valley.” Industrial facilities along the river have played a major role in the regional economy for decades.
Sarnia also features parks, waterfront areas and beaches along Lake Huron. Today the city combines industry, transportation and recreational waterfront landscapes within southwestern Ontario.
